Career Skills For Life - Microsoft Training

Across the nation, a number of businesses, government agencies and universities are requiring individuals to complete Microsoft computer software training. According to a recent survey, 75% of managers believe certification is important to team performance and 66% of managers believe certification improves the level of service offered to IT customers. Whether you have a job, need a job or are considering a change, computer training courses can help you advance your career.

There are five series in the Microsoft group of software training classifications: Desktop Support, Technology, Professional, Master and Architect. The Desktop Series offers certification as a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS) or a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS).

This will demonstrate to employers that you have a mastery of Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Vista. The Technology Series allows you to become a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS Training , MCTS Certification), which showcases your ability to build, troubleshoot, debug and implement a Windows server, Microsoft .NET framework or Microsoft SQL server.

With the Professional Series, you can become a Microsoft Certified IT Professional or a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer, which showcases project management, system design, operations system or planning expertise. A Microsoft Certified Master (Master Series) is someone with in-depth knowledge of designing, implementing and troubleshooting servers, and fixing complex business challenges.

Lastly, the MCA Technology or MCA Infrastructure designations are offered to certified professionals who have more than five years of experience in their field, in addition to their computer training courses.

Graduates of the Microsoft software training program have gone on to attain a number of desirable positions. Jonathan Embury became a Certified Database Administrator for dotNET solutions in Canberra, Australia. Patrick Birch became a Certified Solutions Developer at Macro Enterprises in Houston, Texas.

Darwin Fisk Jr. became a Certified Application Developer for his own company Dot NET Designs in Phoenix, Arizona. David Rigney became a Certified Systems Engineer for Momentum in New Orleans, Louisiana. Richard Hubbard became a Certified Trainer (in addition to a Database Administrator and Systems Engineer) at the New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Buffalo, New York. As you can see, software computer training throws open the doors of opportunity!

When Redmond Magazine surveyed Microsoft IT professionals in 2006, they found that 43% of the respondents reported salary increases after their Microsoft software training. Additionally, over 40% of Microsoft-certified professionals received a new position or a promotion following their computer training courses.

These benefits make the certification alluring, yet what jazzes up people most is the pride and proof of their skills. In this competitive job market, it helps to have as many tools in one’s portfolio as possible and you’ll save money on computer repairs and may be able to earn a little extra pocket money too.
